Local pianist and entertainer Ali Wood, is set to hit the big time in America.
Ali who came to live and work at local icon property, Music Farm ? Coorabell in 2002, departs at the end of March to take up residence in her new home in Beverley Hills.
Suzi (owner Music Farm, Byron Stunning Stays) has been a benefactor to Ali since she was seventeen is thrilled at her well deserved success and justifiably proud that Music Farm is where Ali honed her skills for this opportunity.
In 2002 Suzi purchased Music Farm (www.byronstunningstays.com.au) so that Ali could have a suitable place to live and work. Suzi quickly needed to realise an income stream to support this patronage and so began Byron Stunning Stays.
A fortunate happenstance for visitors to the area as they are now able to experience the beauty, tranquillity and quality of this magnificent estate????.something that Ali has been privileged to enjoy during her time there. Suzi prefers to believe that the quality of her environment helped in creating this next chapter in Ali?s life.
The AliStudio - once a seventies icon ? may soon be occupied again for the exclusive use of a working musician from the era.
Miss Wood will be permanently based in Los Angeles and under new management.
ICM is the largest and most prestigious agency in the US. Their immediate reaction was to assist in placing Ali with appropriate management.
CEO of AM Productions and Management, Alan Marguiles, said ?I never take risks, I can?t afford to at this level?. As one of the most successful artist managers in the USA, he certainly has the runs on the board.
He managed Peter Allen for 20 years and Wayne Newton for 10 years. He currently manages Engelbert Humperdink and Ann Margaret, and now adds Ali Wood to his small but exclusive portfolio.
Ali has also been offered the Fontana Room at Bellagio?s Casino in Las Vegas, opening in April 2004.
At just 18 years of age, Ali became the first Australian pianist to make a New York debut at Carnegie Hall. Over the last five years she has changed the face of piano playing.
In her new Las Vegas show Ali combines her love of theatre with her love of music. She plays Boogie, Ragtime romantic favourites and popular classics. Ali has toured 24 countries on six continents.
Her first professional engagements as a teenager were in regional Queensland venues??..and that?s where she will be performing before leaving Australia.
